Blue Demons Sweep Rutgers, Win Sixth Straight
MILWAUKEE - The No. 26 DePaul women's tennis won its sixth consecutive match and fourth straight BIG EAST Conference match with a dominating 7-0 win over Rutgers at Marquette's Helfaer Tennis Stadium on Sunday. The Blue Demons, who topped No. 63 Akron on Saturday 6-1, have dominated their last six opponents winning all but seven matches and have dropped just three matches in their last four BIG EAST wins. DePaul set the tone for the day by winning all three doubles matches. Katarina Milinkovic and Sandra Zmak won their fourth straight match and were the first to finish with an 8-1 win over Katherine Arlak and Christine Tran in the number two match. Kirsten Gambrell and Gia McKnight clinched the doubles point with an 8-2 win over Caitlin Baker and Maryana Milchutskey on the third court. With the doubles point in hand, DePaul's 12th ranked dynamic duo of Anna Redecsi and Selma Salkovic improved to 6-2 over ranked pairs with an 8-4 win over No. 61 Amy Zhang and Jennifer Hotlzberg in the top doubles match. The Blue Demons continued to dominate the courts in singles play as Milinkovic and Zmak were the first two to finish on the third and fourth courts, respectively. Milinkovic won her sixth straight with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Arlak on the third court while Zmak topped Milchutskey 6-1, 6-1 in the fourth position. Needing just one more win to clinch the dual, Salkovic overtook Jennifer Holtzberg 6-2, 6-1 to secure the Blue Demon victory. Looking for their third BIG EAST dual sweep of the season, the Blue Demons got a two-set win from McKnight on the fifth court while Redecsi and Gambrell each battled to three-set win in the first and sixth positions, respectively. The Blue Demons head to South Bend next weekend for a rematch with No. 6 Notre Dame on April 16 and then play a neutral site match with Marquette on the 17th. No. 26 DePaul 7, Rutgers 0 Singles
