Road Stretch Takes Women's Tennis to South Carolina
April 12, 2018

CHICAGO – Women’s tennis is nearing the end of a rugged stretch playing seven consecutive matches away from Lincoln Park.

After BIG EAST matchups at St. John’s, Seton Hall and Butler along with a nonconference road contest at Indiana, the Blue Demons head to the Southeast this weekend for a pair of nonconference matches.

DePaul (6-8, 1-2 in the BIG EAST) will be in South Carolina to face Charleston Southern at 1 p.m. Friday at the Buccaneer Tennis Center. The Bucs are 10-7 this spring and 6-1 at home. They won seven in a row from March 2-18.

At 9 a.m. Saturday, coach Mark Ardizzone’s short-handed team will be in Conway, S.C. to take on a talented Coastal Carolina team that is 15-6 and 10-0 at the Stevens Tennis Complex. The Chanticleers out of the Sun Belt Conference have won eight of their last nine matches.

DePaul concludes this road stretch April 21 at Marquette.

Patricia Lancranjan continues to have a memorable season in her senior year. She leads her team with a 10-3 record in the dual-match season and is 12-5 overall. The current No. 1 singles player from Romania is 7-3 in her last 10 matches.

Milica Tesic enters the weekend with an 8-6 dual mark while Aspasia Avgeri is 6-4.

Injuries will force the Blue Demons to forfeit one singles match and one doubles match against both South Carolina opponents.
