The Blue Demons picked up a 4-3 BIG EAST road victory over the Golden Eagles on Friday. DePaul continues conference play tomorrow with a noon neutral-court dual against No. 2 Notre Dame.
MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The DePaul women’s tennis team posted a 4-3 BIG EAST Conference victory at Marquette on Friday. The Blue Demons grabbed the top three singles matches after taking the doubles point from the Golden Eagles.
The top doubles flight saw Anja Mihaldinec and Dunja Antunovic notch an 8-6 victory over Maria Calbeto and Lauren Little. Kirsten Gambrell and Petra Rehusova defeated Robin Metzler and Shannon Brown, 6-1, 6-2, in the second match.
Antunovic improved her season singles record to 24-4 as she rolled past Erin Watkins, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. The Blue Demon sophomore is currently No. 88 in the FILA/ITA Division I singles poll.
DePaul picked up two more points in the second and third singles matches. Gambrell earned a 6-1, 6-3 win over Calbeto at No. 2 singles, while Mihaldinec knocked off Metzler, 7-5, 6-2.
The Blue Demons (11-9, 4-2 BIG EAST) return to action tomorrow with a noon neutral-court BIG EAST dual against No. 2 Notre Dame.
