Women's Tennis Drops C-USA Quarterfinal

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Fifth-seeded Louisville nabbed a 4-2 victory over No. 4 DePaul in the quarterfinals of the Conference USA Women’s Tennis Championship. The Cardinals will now advance to the semifinals and face second-seeded TCU at 3 p.m., on Saturday at Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The Blue Demons will take on No. 8 USF on Saturday (9 a.m.) at Seneca Park.


DePaul took the early lead, after the tandem of Gergana Ganeva and Stephanie Matko outlasted Louisville’s Kelly Taylor and Natalie Laszkowski, 9-8, to clinch the doubles point.


However, Louisville rallied back in the singles matches to win at No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6.


Julie Hierl swept Brenda Leung at No. 4, while Taylor posted a 6-2, 6-0 decision over Natalie Matko. Laszkowski notched a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Petra Rehusova and Christina Gogal downed Karen Falduto, 6-0, 6-4, at No. 6.
