Women's Tennis Finishes Sixth at BIG EAST Championship
TAMPA, Fla. – The DePaul women’s tennis team finished sixth at the 2007 BIG EAST Championship after dropping a 4-1 decision to Syracuse in Sunday’s consolation play. Petra Rehusova gave the Blue Demons a singles victory but the
Rehusova posted a 6-2, 7-5 win over Carolina Huighard at No. 5 singles. The Blue Demon senior went 2-1 over the weekend after missing the last five weeks of the regular season due to injuries.
Kirsten Gambrell and Rehusova gave DePaul a doubles victory as they rolled past Kasie Zawadzki and Chelsea Jones, 8-1, at No. 2. The top doubles match saw Dunja Antunovic and Anja Mihaldinec fall, 8-2, to Olga Votavova and Maria Vasilyeva.
The dual ended at No. 3 singles when Mihaldinec suffered a 6-3, 6-2 loss to Zawadzki.
USF won the 2007 BIG EAST Championship title on Sunday with a 4-3 upset over top-seeded Notre Dame.
DePaul finishes the 2007 season with an overall record of 13-12.
