Women's Tennis Closes Out Season at Notre Dame

CHICAGO – The DePaul women’s tennis team is set to face its 14th ranked team of the season when it travels to South Bend for a Saturday clash with No. 24 Notre Dame. The Blue Demons and Irish throw up the first serve at the Courtney Tennis Center at Noon (CST). If the weather does not cooperate, the dual will be moved inside to the Ecks Tennis Pavilion. Live scoring is available for the dual. DePaul (13-9) enters the dual on a three-match winning streak and is 4-0 in BIG EAST Conference matches. The Blue Demons have been led by their top three singles players – No. 1 Katarina Milinkovic, No. 2 Gia McKnight and No. 3 Kelsey Lawson. The trio has combined for 66 singles wins this season including nine during DePaul’s current three-match winning streak. Lawson leads the sqaud with a 24-14 mark, and Milinkovic follows with 23-12 record and is 15-4 in the top singles position. McKnight was named the BIG EAST Tennis player of the week for her performances at Marquette and Cincinnati. The junior won both of her doubles and singles matches. She improved to 19-17 in singles and is 22-13 in doubles action. McKnight enters the Notre Dame dual with a 4-0 mark in BIG EAST play. Notre Dame (12-9, 1-1 BIG EAST) is ranked No. 24 in the latest ITA/Campbell’s team poll. The Irish have three players ranked in the top 125 while their doubles pair of Kristy Frilling and Shannon Matthews is ranked 11th. Saturday’s dual is the eighth meeting between the two teams in the last six years. The Irish have won each of the previous meetings including two last season. Following the clash between the two rivals, the Blue Demons await the BIG EAST Championship draws which will be released on Monday, April 25. The Championship is set to begin on Friday, April 28 with the championship dual on Sunday, May 1.
