Blue Demons Compete at the 2009 Summer Universiade
CHICAGO The 25th Summer Universiade Games kick off on July 1 in Belgrade, Serbia, bringing together athletes from across the world for nearly two weeks of competition. DePaul’s own Dunja Antunovic, Katarina Milinkovic, and Anna Redecsi will represent their native countries in the tennis competition starting on July 3.
The Universiade, also know as the World University Games, features around 9000 student-athletes from 140 different countries. This year 15 sports and 208 disciplines will be represented including track and field, judo, soccer, basketball, fencing, volleyball, swimming, diving, rhythmic gymnastics, artistic gymnastics, table tennis, archery, tennis, taekwondo, and water polo.
Antunovic and Redecsi are slated to compete in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles for the Hungarian National Team, while Milinkovic will represent Serbia. In addition, Antunovic will be writing a blog to give Blue Demon fans updates as well as share her experiences.
