ITA All-Academic Team and Scholar Athlete Winners

CHICAGO – After finishing the season ranked No. 66 in the Campbell’s/ITA College Tennis Rankings, the Blue Demons were one of 113 Division I women’s tennis programs honored with a All-Academic standing by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

The Blue Demons’ 3.799 cumulative GPA far surpassed the awards’ minimum of 3.2.  The women improved its cumulative team GPA by nearly two-tenths from a year ago when the Blue Demons had the highest team GPA among the other BIG EAST women’s tennis programs.

Head coach Mark Ardizzone puts an emphasis on his team’s scholastic standards as his squad has won the ITA Team Academic honors six times since 2006 while his team's GPA has twice been the highest in the BIG EAST Conference – that award has not be handed out for the 2011-12 season.

Every individual on DePaul’s roster -- Patricia Fargas, Cali Gustafson, Jasmin Kling, Kelsey Lawson, Gia McKnight, Rebeca Mitrea and Carolin Neumann were all named ITA Scholar-Athletes after each recording a cumulative GPA above a 3.5.

DePaul’s upperclassmen – Gustafson, McKnight and Lawson all repeated as Scholar-Athletes from a season ago, while Gustafson was a three-time winner during her four seasons with the Blue Demons.
