Men's and Women's Tennis Honored by the ITA for Team and Individual Academic Success

CHICAGO – The DePaul men’s and women’s tennis teams were each named a 2009 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team while eight student-athletes were named ITA Scholar Athletes.  39 men’s DI teams recorded a cumulative team GPA over 3.2 in 2008-09 while 105 women’s DI teams earned the distinction.

DePaul’s eight student-athletes who earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status tallied a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the 2008-09 academic year.  On the men’s side, Alasdair Graetz, Vanja Grgec and Matija Palinic earned the distinction while Dunja Antunovic, Cali Gustafson, Anna Redecsi, Selma Salkovic and Sandra Zmak were awarded the status for the women.

Earlier this summer, the Women’s tennis team earned the BIG EAST Team Academic Excellence Award for the highest GPA while each of the team’s rostered student-athletes were named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team. The men also had eight student-athletes earn BIG EAST All-Academic Team honors.

Both Blue Demon teams had record breaking seasons on the court and finished second at the BIG EAST Conference Outdoor Championships.
