Women's Tennis Earns ITA Academic Honors
Aug. 18, 2011
CHICAGO – After recording the highest cumulative team GPA among the women’s tennis programs in the BIG EAST Conference, the Blue Demons earned another academic honor when the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) named DePaul one of 109 Division I teams All-Academic.
The Blue Demons 3.618 cumulative GPA far surpassed the awards’ minimum of 3.2. Head coach Mark Ardizzone puts an emphasis on his team’s scholastic standards as his squad has won the ITA Team Academic honors five times since 2006 while his team's GPA has twice been the highest in the BIG EAST Conference.
Individually Cali Gustafson, Christiana Raymond, Gia McKnight, Katarina Milinkovic, Kelsey Lawson and Selma Salkovic were all named ITA Scholar-Athletes after each recording a cumulative GPA above a 3.5.
Salkovic graduated in 2011 as a four-time ITA Scholar-Athlete honoree. The senior finished her with a degree in finance with a minor in sales leadership and graduated Cum Laude this past June.
Gustafson, McKnight and Lawson all return to the courts this fall. McKnight, an All-BIG EAST performer in 2010-11, enters her senior season with a 69-44 singles record.
