Women's Tennis Announces 2007-08 Schedule
CHICAGO DePaul women’s tennis coach Mark Ardizzone announced the 2007-08 schedule as the program enters its third season as a member of the BIG EAST Conference. The Blue Demons compete in five tournaments before taking on a dual schedule that includes BIG EAST rivals St. John’s, Syracuse, Rutgers, Cincinnati, Seton Hall, Notre Dame and Marquette.
DePaul opens its campaign by co-hosting the DuPage-DePaul Invitational, September 21-23, in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. The tournament includes Northern Illinois, Western Illinois, Chicago State, College of DuPage and Lewis. DePaul then competes at Northwestern’s Wildcat Invitational, October 5-7, in Evanston, Illinois and at the ITA Midwest Regional, October 19-23, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Blue Demons close out the fall schedule, November 2-4, at the Western Michigan Bronco Invitational in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
DePaul returns to Northwestern January 11-13 for the Wildcat Invitational before opening the dual schedule at home on January 19 as Butler and Western Illinois visit the Lakeshore Athletic Club. The Blue Demons wrap up January with road duals at Colorado and Denver.
DePaul stays on the road the entire month of February to face Ball State, Western Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Princeton, St. John’s, Syracuse and Purdue. March opens with a dual at Indiana and a neutral-court dual against Rutgers in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The Blue Demons return to their home courts on March 8 as they host Northern Illinois and Bradley at the Lakeshore Athletic Club. DePaul welcomes Illinois State on March 9 before traveling to Boca Raton, Florida to face Florida Atlantic and Memphis on March 27.
The Blue Demons close out their regular season with four BIG EAST duals, beginning with a home match against Cincinnati on April 5. DePaul then faces Seton Hall in Milwaukee on April 6 before heading to Notre Dame for an April 11 dual against the Irish and an April 12 neutral-court dual with Marquette.
The 2008 BIG EAST Championships run April 17-20 in Tampa, Florida on the USF campus. DePaul finished sixth at the 2007 BIG EAST Championships while Dunja Antunovic made the All-Conference team.
Ardizzone returns seven players from the 2006-07 Blue Demon squad that went 13-12 overall and 6-5 in BIG EAST play. In addition, DePaul welcomes newcomers Katarina Milinkovic and Selma Salcovic.
