Women's Tennis Unveils 2017-18 Schedule

CHICAGO - A pair of NCAA tournament teams highlight the DePaul women's tennis schedule announced by coach Mark Ardizzone.

The Blue Demons will face Furman and Tulsa during their spring season. DePaul won the BIG EAST tournament last April and advanced to their third NCAA tournament in the last four years.

Ardizzone's program opens the 2017-18 season Sept. 22-24 at the Bradley Invitational in Downstate Peoria. The following weekend (Sept. 29-Oct. 1) finds his team competing at the Wildcat Invite in Evanston.

The Riviera/ITA All-American Championships featuring the nation's elite college players is Sept. 30-Oct. 8 in Los Angeles. Keisha Clousing will enter pre-qualifying singles on Sept. 30 while Clousing and Patricia Lancranjan begin the qualifying doubles round on Oct. 3. The main draw commences Oct. 5.

Next up is the ITA Midwest Regional Oct. 12-17 at Ann Arbor, Mich. Then, the Blue Demons head south Oct. 27-28 to Tuscaloosa, Ala. for the Roberta Allison Open. They close out the fall portion of their schedule Nov. 3-5 at the WMU Challenge in Kalamazoo, Mich.

The spring season commences Jan. 12-14 at the Hoosier Invite in Bloomington, Ind. DePaul's inaugural dual match and home opener takes place Jan. 19 against Saint Louis at Lakeshore Sport & Fitness. Two days later, the Blue Demons tangle with Milwaukee in Jackson, Wis.


 

 

The Blue Demons will join Utah, Marshall and host Minnesota at the Feb.3-4 Gopher Ice Volleys in Minneapolis. They are back home for a Feb. 9 match against Western Michigan and Feb. 10 against NCAA tournament qualifier Furman.

They head to West Lafayette, Ind. for a Feb. 16 match against Purdue followed by a showdown with NCAA qualifier Tulsa 24 hours later.

DePaul is back in Lincoln Park for consecutive home matches against Michigan State (Feb. 24), Northern Illinois (Feb. 25), Bradley (March 3) and Eastern Illinois (March 4).

Ardizzone & Co. then hit the road for seven-straight matches beginning with their BIG EAST opener March 30 at St. John's. That is followed by tests at Seton Hall (March 31), at Butler (April 7), at Indiana (April 8), at Charleston Southern (April 13), at Coastal Carolina (April 14) and at Marquette (April 21).

The regular-season finale is April 22 against Xavier at Lakeshore Sport & Fitness. The BIG EAST Championships are set for April 26-29 at Cayce, S.C.
