Women's Tennis Walks Away with Two Titles
KALAMAZOO, Mich. The DePaul women’s tennis team concluded the Bronco Invitational with a pair of championships courtesy of Gia McKnight and Sandra Zmak.
McKnight, who went undefeated in singles play during the tournament, defeated Anya Dushkina of Purdue, 6-0, 6-4, to win the Gold Flight. Later she teamed up with Selma Salkovic to defeat Purdue’s Remi Martin and Joanna Craven, 8-2, to walk away from the tournament with six total victories. In the Brown Flight finals, Zmak defeated Maggie Wilson of BIG EAST Conference rival Marquette, 6-2, 6-3. In bonus doubles action, the junior Blue Demon paired up with Western Michigan’s Emily Dudzik to beat Jenna Reisch and Illinca Crristescu of UIC 8-4. Also logging a victory on the final day of competition was Katarina Milinkovic, who outscored Sarah Meghoufel of ISU 6-3, 6-3. Up next for the Blue Demons is the Wildcat Invitational in Evanston, Illinois. The three day competition begins on Friday, Oct. 10.
