Csordas and Ganeva to Play at ITA All-American Championships

CHICAGO- Senior Gergana Ganeva and junior Beatrix Csordas head west this weekend to represent the DePaul women’s tennis program in singles and doubles competition at the Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, California.  The singles tournament begins on Saturday while doubles action commences on Tuesday.

The tournament pits the duo against some of the nation’s top collegiate talent, beginning with Csordas’ first draw against Yasmin Schnack of UCLA and Ganeva’s first draw against Courtney Zauftt of Texas.  Doubles draws will be announced on Monday.

Csordas carries a Fila/ITA Division I ranking of 121 into her second appearance at the tournament after posting a 17-5 singles record last season.  Last year’s tournament saw her fall to Jessi Robinson of Duke.  Ganeva holds a ranking of 122 and is playing in the tournament for her first time after recording a 16-5 record in singles play last season.  The duo is currently ranked 21st in the nation in doubles after notching a 13-2 record for the Blue Demons last season in the No. 1 slot.

The Riviera/ITA All-American is the first of three national championship events during the 2006-07 Division I tennis season.  The ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Singles and Doubles Championships take place November 2-5 while the NCAA Championships conclude the spring season.
