Blue Demons Complete Day One of Wildcat Invitational
EVANSTON, Ill. - The DePaul women's tennis team finished day one of the rained soaked Wildcat Invitational with five doubles victories while singles action is scheduled to begin on Saturday. The tournament was scheduled to be played at the outdoor Vandy Christie Tennis Center but was moved to the Combe Indoor Tennis Center after steady rain and below normal temperatures forced the venue change.
Two DePaul pairs played in Flight A while Katarina Milinkovic and Selma Salkovic advanced to the semifinals with two early wins.
In their first match of the day Salkovic and Milinkovic nipped Akron's Angelika Jogasuria and Anya Baronayte 9-7. The pair dominated their second round opponent with an 8-2 victory over Marie-Pier Huet and Katelyn Connelly from Oklahoma.
Playing in the semifinals, Milinkovic and Salkovic stumbled when South Carolina's Ana Marija Zubori and Dijana Stojic handed the pair an 8-6 loss.
