Kirsten Gambrell Leads Off at the Wilson/ITA Midwest Regional Championships
CHICAGO The DePaul women’s tennis team begins the singles qualifying rounds of the 2008 Wilson/ITA Midwest Regional today in East Lansing, Mich. The tournament runs Thursday through Tuesday at the Michigan State University Outdoor Tennis Courts. Junior Kirsten Gambrell kicks things off late Thursday morning during the singles qualifying rounds. Three victories in the bracket-style tournament earns her a berth in the singles main draw, which begins on Saturday morning at 8 a.m. (CST) Pre-qualifiers for the main draw include Dunja Antunovic, Gia McKnight, Selma Salkovic, Anna Redecsi, Katarina Milinkovic, and Sandra Zmak. The Midwest Region includes Division I schools from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Full schedules, brackets and results will be posted as they become available.
