Doubles Pairs Go Undefeated
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. The DePaul women’s tennis team completed day one of the IU Invitational hosted by Indiana. The dual style tournament pitted the Blue Demons against Western Michigan in singles action, while doubles matches were played against Wisconsin.
DePaul dropped the singles dual against the Broncos, 3-4. Winning for the Blue Demons, Anna Redecsi defeated Emily Dudzik 7-5, 6-0, and Katarina Milinkovic beat Ashley Moccia, 6-3, 6-1. Gia McKnight improved her record to 9-2 after winning her match against Yumi Matsuto, 6-3, 6-2.
The DePaul double’s pairs went undefeated against the Badgers. Dunja Antunovic and Redecsi teamed up for the first time this season to defeat Aleksandra Markovic and Alaina Trgovic, 9-8. McKnight and Selma Salkovic, who have paired up nine times to date, posted their sixth victory together. By of score of 8-3, the pair beat Katya Mirnova and Dana Larsen. The final duo to compete was Milinkovic and Cali Gustafson, who topped Emese Kardhordo and Angela Chupa 8-5.
The Blue Demons return for the second and third rounds of doubles and another round of singles tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m. (CST) To get things started, DePaul takes on the hosting Hoosiers in doubles play, followed by a round of singles against Wisconsin. To conclude their day, the Blue Demons take on doubles pairs from Western Michigan.
