DePaul Volleyball Drops 3-0 Tilt to Georgetown

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The DePaul volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (27-25, 25-20, 25-17) decision at Georgetown's McDonough Arena on Sunday to split its weekend matches in BIG EAST Conference action.
With the loss, the Blue Demons drop to 7-15 overall and 2-7 in the conference. Georgetown got its first league win of the season and improved to 1-7 (7-14 overall).
Vesela Zapryanova led the team with 12 kills and added 10 digs for her sixth double-double of the season. Junior libero Allyson Rooks also had a productive match, adding 23 digs after putting up a career-high 26 on Friday night.
Set one saw the Blue Demons fall behind 7-3 early, but battle back to to even things at 8-8 on a kill by Zapryanova. DePaul then went up 12-10 in the set after a Rooks ace and a kill by Callie Huebener. Things would remain tight until late, 25-25, when Georgetown took the set point on a kill and Blue Demon error.
Set two got off to a good start with a kill by Rachel Aumann, but DePaul would not lead again as Georgetown went up 2-0 in the match. In set three, the Blue Demons went down 7-3 early and could not get any closer than five points the rest of the way as Georgetown sealed the win.
Next up for the Blue Demons is a home match on Friday, October 26 against South Florida. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m.
