Volleyball Announces Fall Schedule



CHICAGO-  DePaul’s head women’s volleyball coach Dawn Dockstader announced today the schedule for the 2004 season. 

The Blue Demons opened its spring season with a third place finish at Loyola going 6-3 on April 3rd.  The following weekend they went to UW-Milwaukee winning seven of its 10 matches.  The Spring season concludes at Marquette on April 24.  This weekend the Blue Demons host their own tournament on Saturday, April 17th at the DePaul Athletic Center, action begins at 9:00 a.m.

“We are excited about our spring schedule,” Dockstader said. “We are glad to be back in the gym, working together as a team and are looking forward to the 2004 regular season”

The 2004 regular season opens on September 1st with the Blue Demons welcoming Chicago State to the DePaul Athletic Center.  DePaul’s non-conference schedule is highlighted by a trip to North Carolina to compete in the Davidson Invitational.  The team’s trip to North Carolina will be its first tournament outside of the Midwest region in the program’s history. DePaul takes on Florida Atlantic, Virginia Commonwealth and host Davidson September 3-4.

Three other tournaments are on the 2004 slate including the Blue Demon Invitational. The tournament brings in-state rivals Western and Eastern Illinois, Xavier, and Birmingham Southern.  Nine matches will be played over the two-day tournament September 17-18 at the DePaul Athletic Center.

DePaul is poised to face off against future BIG EAST conference opponent, St. John’s at the IPFW Invitational on September 24th.

DePaul will host 2003 NCAA Tournament teams Louisville and Cincinnati in the opening weekend of Conference USA play October 1-2.  Other home conference matches include TCU, Houston, Southern Miss and Tulane. All home matches are played at the DePaul Athletic Center and are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. The Blue Demons travel to conference opponents Marquette, UAB, USF, Saint Louis, Memphis, East Carolina and Charlotte.
