Today In Blue Demon History:

On April 30th, 2003, the Amateur Softball Association announced the top 10 finalists for the 2003 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award. DePaul’s top pitcher, Lindsay Chouinard was one of the finalists among the nation’s cream of the crop. Chouinard had an ERA of .44, the second best in the nation.  Her record of 26-4 puts her at ninth in the nation for total wins.   She pitched 14 shutouts and tallied 180 strikeouts in 204.2 innings pitched.

Sports Reports:

Women's Softball: DePaul doubled up on the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Awards on Monday with Kirsten Verdun being chosen Softball Pitcher of the Week and Samantha Dodd getting named to the Honor Roll. The final week of the regular season may well determine DePaul’s softball fate in qualifying for an at-large berth in the NCAA Championship tournament. And what a way for the Blue Demons to start off the week---with a 4 p.m. game Tuesday at Northwestern (28-18).

Men's Golf: The DePaul men’s golf team slipped into sixth place after combining for a seven-over (295), in the second round of the BIG EAST Championship on Monday.  Playing the Watson Course at the Reunion Resort the Blue Demons started the day in a three-way tie for fifth place and were led by John Pavelko and Adrian Halimi, who both finished one-over for the round.
