Volleyball Adds Transfer Emma Price
May 14, 2018

CHICAGO – DePaul head coach Marie Zidek announced today that Emma Price is joining the program as a transfer. She played her freshman season at Hofstra and will be eligible to play for the Blue Demons starting with the 2018 season.

“It is with great excitement that we announce the addition of Emma Price to our fall roster. I have always admired her versatility, coachability, and work ethic. She checks all of the boxes we look for in our recruits: elite on the court, elite in the classroom, and elite in the community,” said Zidek. “She will be an immediate contributor to our squad and an integral piece for our future.”

Price was third at Hofstra last season with a .277 attack percentage and fourth with 181 kills. The Encinitas, Calif., native earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors on Sept. 25 after totaling 21 kills, three blocks and two digs in two matches against Charleston and UNC-Wilmington. She also registered 10 matches with double-digit kills including a season-high 16 against Liberty and also posted a season-best percentage of .647 with 11 kills against Bryant.

“What makes Emma so special as a player is her ability to attack and block from either pin position on the court in addition to her ability to hit quick sets and high balls. She is a true hybrid that expands what we are able to do offensively. What makes her so special as a person is that she brings an elite competitive mentality to practices and games,” said Zidek. “She has an unyielding passion for the sport and the standard to which she holds her performance will be immediately infectious as we embark towards our goals this season.”

Prior to Hofstra, Price was a standout at Pacific Ridge School in Carlsbad, Calif. She played four years of volleyball and was named team MVP and first team All-League as a senior. Over her junior and senior seasons, she combined to total 523 kills, 174 digs and 54 blocks over her junior and senior seasons at Pacific Ridge. Price also played for WAVE Volleyball Club, one of the top clubs in the country that finished top five in the Southern California Volleyball Association in the spring 2017 season.
