Hey Blue Demon Fans!
It is summer time in Chicago! This is my favorite time of year to be in Chicago. There is so much to do. Each weekend there is at least one festival or show to go to. Not to mention going to the beach is the most fun! The beach is also a great place to be because there is sand volleyball going on. Volleyball is always fun, but it definitely gets more difficult in the sand!
The DePaul Athletic Banquet was June 5. It was so fun! It was great to honor all of DePaul student-athlete accomplishments and to say farewell to the graduating seniors. Caito (Caitlin Callaghan) walked last week during DePaul’s graduation weekend. Congrats Caito! The end of the year banquet also recognizes a most outstanding player form each team. Sarah (Cullen) was volleyball’s most outstanding player for this season! Good job Sarah!
Our team is preparing for fall season now. Yay! We have about two months until preseason starts. Our first preseason tournament is at the end of August. I cannot wait to play other teams. I especially can’t wait for the BIG EAST Conference season to begin. St. John’s is our first BIG EAST match, and we are playing at St. John’s. It is going to be a great game!
I am taking a summer class which started on Monday. I am only taking one class, so hopefully it won’t be too busy. Finishing the spring quarter was a huge relief; I have been ready for summer ever since the weather started getting nice!
We are going to play during open gyms this summer too, so I am really looking forward to that. I also want to play on the beach, even though I may not last that long in the hot sun and in the sand...
This summer is going to be so fun, and I can’t wait! I hope everyone has a fun and safe summer! Enjoy all the great events that Chicago has going on, and get pumped for the DePaul Volleyball season -- our first home match is Sept., 4 when we host Western Illinois!
