CHICAGO – DePaul volleyball coach Nadia Edwards was recently selected to participate in an international coaching clinic this December in Italy. Edwards joins some of the nation’s top volleyball coaches on a nine-day trip for a variety of clinics and coaching development opportunities.
The tour is sponsored by Bring It On Promotions and features Edwards’ collegiate coach Russ Rose of Penn State. Rose has led Penn State to five NCAA titles and has recorded over 1,000 career victories. Along with Rose, Edwards will have the opportunity to interact with coaches from around the nation and other countries including the host country Italy. The tour begins in Rome and the group travels to Bologna, Florence and Venice before departing back to the United States.
“It is not only a privilege but a tremendous opportunity to be a part of this trip,” said Edwards. “I am truly excited to be surrounded by many high caliber and iconic coaches both nationally and internationally. I am looking forward to the chance to learn, share my knowledge and establish future relationships with top coaches from around the world.”
Edwards enters her second season leading the DePaul program and opens training camp in early August. The Blue Demons return eight players and four starters from last season while welcoming four newcomers to Lincoln Park.
DePaul begins the 2011 season on Aug. 26 against Oregon State at the UniWyo Wyoming Invite. The Blue Demons host the annual DePaul Invitational on Sept. 16-17 at McGrath-Phillips Arena that features the Blue Demons along with Kansas, San Diego State and Valparaiso in a two-day event.
