Blue Demons Take Exhibition Match from Northern Illinois Huskies

CHICAGO- The DePaul volleyball team set out to beat 2016 Mid-American Conference Champions, Northern Illinois, 3-1 (27-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-17) in an exhibition match on Saturday. The Blue Demons took charge with a 27-25 victory in the first set followed by another victorious second set, 25-23.

The Huskies edged out DePaul in the third set with a close 25-23 win. Jameson MacPhie charged back with 14 attacks and four kills. The evenly played out match was rallied in the fourth set by the Blue Demons, winning the set 25-27.

MacPhie, Brittany Maxwell, and Myah Reed led the team in attacks, earning 42, 37, and 19, respectively. Maxwell and MacPhie joined Caitlyn Coffey to add up 48 team total kills, each earning 18, 13, and five, respectively.

The Blue Demons start the regular season with the Indiana Invitational on Aug. 25-26 to take on Indiana State, Indiana and Ball State in Bloomington, Indiana. The UIC Invitational follows on the schedule. DePaul will head down Lake Shore Drive to UIC where they will play Idaho and UIC on Aug. 31 and Sept. 2.
