Volleyball Falls to Loyola

Long rallies highlighted the match as both the defensives worked overtime to ensure a hard fought point. Loyola (1-0) tallied 69 digs and had four players finish with double-digit dig totals. The Blue Demons finished with 59 digs with senior Ellen Hayes and Zigulich leading the DePaul charge. Hayes finished the match with 13 digs and led the offense with nine kills.
The first game saw the Ramblers take an early lead before the Blue Demons tied the game at 13 on senior Morgan Ingersoll's perfectly placed ball in far right corner of the court. DePaul continued to terminate the ball and took an 18-16 advantage on a kill from Hayes. The Ramblers and Blue Demons continued to trade points and tied the game 27 before Loyola closed out the game on a 4-1 run and won the game 30-28. Loyola's Courtney Ashley led all players with seven kills in game one.
The Blue Demons were unable to spark their offense in the games two and three and found themselves in an early hole in both games. The Ramblers hit a match high .421 in game two and sailed to a 30-15 victory. Loyola's offense continued to roll in game three as they hit .382 en route to a 30-19 win.
Ashley led a trio of Ramblers to double-digit kill totals. Ashley guided the field with 14 kills and a .419 attack percentage while Shelby Erikson and Keily Zins tallied 12 and 10 kills respectively.
