Volleyball Season Opens On Friday
CHICAGO – DePaul will open the 2002 volleyball season on Friday when it faces Tennessee-Chattanooga at 4 p.m. in the opening match of the Eastern Illinois Invitational in Charleston. The tournament continues on Saturday when the Blue Demons face Toldeo at 10 a.m. and conclude the opening weekend by facing Eastern Illinois at 7 p.m. “We are anxiously awaiting outside competition,” DePaul head coach Dawn Dockstader said. “We’ve had a really good preseason and the players have worked exceptionally hard. “We will be looking for our captains Kate Engel and Meg Griffin to start us off in the right direction this weekend,” Dockstader added. DePaul has eight letterwinners, including two starters, back from last season when the Blue Demons finished 24-9 overall, won the Conference USA Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1993.
