Volleyball Falls in Three to Illinois

Champaign, IL- The Blue Demons fell to tournament host, Illinois in three games (30-22, 30-22, 30-20).  DePaul played hard, but were unable to capture the momentum of the match.

The Blue Demons came out slow in game one but were able to pick up the pace after they were down 2-7.  They traded points with the Illini, establishing themselves in the match.  However, the point deficit was too much for the Blue Demons to overcome, and they ended up losing the game 30-22.

During games two and three, the Blue Demons were able to stay with Illinois point for point. “We were unable to take control of the match tonight, we could not establish momentum.  Rather we waited for Illinois to make mistakes; we did not play an aggressive game,” Head Coach Dawn Dockstader said.

The Blue Demons were able to out dig the Illini.  DePaul got on the floor with 58 digs while Illinois was only able to come up 49 digs.

DePaul will be back in action Saturday evening against Evansville at 6:00 p.m.  Evansville fell to Wake Forest in three games (30-23, 20-20. 30-16) in the evenings first match.
