Spartans Take Volleyball in Three
Kalamazoo, MI – Michigan State overcame DePaul on Saturday morning in three straight games (30-25, 30-17, 30-20). After a loss on Friday to Wright State, the team couldn’t bounce back to defeat the Spartans in their second match of the WMU Tournament.
Although the score doesn’t reflect the Blue Demon’s efforts, their level of play was certainly upped a notch. “This was a much better performance. I was very pleased with how we came out and played well after a disappointing match with Wright State,” Head Coach Dawn Dockstader said. “We really worked through some things that gave us trouble last night. We played our best match of the year.”
The Blue Demon’s offense delivered a steady match. Katie Engel had 12 kills with a hitting percentage of .333. Lara Marks averaged .438 after totaling eight kills. Amie West directed the front line with 30 assists.
Dockstader and her squad face the Broncos of Western Michigan tonight at 7 p.m. to conclude their second tournament of the season.
