Volleyball Drops Match to Loyola
CHICAGO- The DePaul volleyball team fell to Loyola in the final match of the Chicagoland Classic on Saturday evening, 3-0 (26-30, 13-30, 27-30). The Blue Demons fall to 4-3 on season, while tournament champions Loyola improve to 3-3.
Senior Janet Goreham was credited with five of DePaul’s first six points, four kills and a block solo, but it was not enough as the Blue Demons dropped the first game 26-30. Ellen Hayes and Goreham each tallied five digs.
The Blue Demons were unable to stop Loyola in game two falling, 13-30. The Ramblers hit .514 and recorded 22 kills as a team. Nichol Amerg led the Ramblers with six kills during game two and led all players with 20 for the match.
Sophomore Morgan Ingersoll tied game three at 17 with a kill fed by setter Amie West. The game stayed knotted up in ties until Loyola broke the tie at 23 to regained control and win the game (30-27) and match.
Mandy Moorberg led the Blue Demons in kills, notching 11 on the evening and a .360 hitting percentage.
“We need to get tough this week and come back ready for our five matches next week,” Head Coach Dawn Dockstader said.
