Volleyball Travels to Green Bay

CHICAGO- The DePaul volleyball team (4-3) will play its first of five matches this week on Tuesday against UW-Green Bay in Green Bay.  The Blue Demons will close out the week by hosting the Blue Demon Invitational on September 17-18, welcoming Eastern Illinois, Western Illinois, Xavier and Birmingham Southern to the DePaul Athletic Center

Tuesday’s match against the Phoenix will be played at the Resch Center (Direction to the facility) at 7:00 p.m. The match marks the 15th time these two teams have met since 1984.  The Blue Demons hold a 13-1 series advantage, including a thrilling five-game win last season.

The Blue Demons are coming off a disappointing weekend, falling to local Chicago foes, Illinois-Chicago, Northwestern and Loyola-Chicago at the Chicagoland Classic. They are led by senior middle blocker Janet Gorham.  Goreham has piloted the Blue Demon offense and defense recording a team high 87 kills, .318 attack percentage and 34 total blocks.

UW-Green Bay has gotten off to a rough start, dropping its first six matches.  Sophomore Sarah Rosen leads the Phoenix, averaging 4.23 kills per game and a .116 hitting percentage.

DePaul will open the Blue Demon Invitational Friday, September 17, and will face Birmingham Southern and Eastern Illinois at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. respectively.
