Volleyball Rolls In Tournament Opener
CHICAGO -- Stephanie Bishop had 15 kills and DePaul rolled to a 3-0 (15-3, 15-4, 15-11) win over Providence in its opening match of the Blue Demon Invitational at the DePaul Athletic Center on Friday afternoon.
"I happy with the way we came out and took control early in the match," DePaul head coach Dawn Dockstader said. "It was a very postitive way to open the tournament. Now we need to build on this performance in tonight's match."
The Blue Demons also had Melissa Nordine chip in with 17 digs while Meg Griffin added 11. Kara Jakusz dished out 34 assists and Christa Dirr added nine kills for DePaul which improved its record to 6-3.
Providence, which fell to 7-3, was led by Sarah Katinger and Anna Cella who each posted nine kills.
The Blue Demons will be in action again tonight when they entertain Valparaiso at 7:00 p.m.
