The Blue Demons, on a three-match win streak, were guided by their defense, which tallied 89 digs and five blocks. Freshman Sarah Cullen paced DePaul with a career-high 25 digs, and senior Ellen Hayes followed with 24. Sophomore Caitlin Callaghan and junior Stacy Pando also finished with double-digit dig totals registering 15 and 11, respectively. Pando also chipped in a team-high three block assists.
UCA jumped out to a 14-7 advantage in game one, but the Blue Demons used a 10-4 run to pull within one at 18-17. The Sugar Bears, in a must win situation, took the third game 30-26. Outside hitter Camila Scapini led UCA with five kills.
The Blue Demons jumped out early in game four 17-12, but UCA fought back to take a 27-25 advantage. Ingersoll threw the Blue Demons on her back, registering three of her game-high seven kills in the final five points of the match. DePaul won game four 30-25.
Scapini led the Sugar Bears with 17 kills, while Brianna LaBrot led defense with 21 digs.
The Blue Demons close out the tournament on Saturday with matches against
