DePaul Controls Early, Wins In Tournament
CHICAGO -- The Blue Demons took control early and moved past Central Michigan 3-0 (15-4, 15-4, 15-10) in the Blue Demon Invitational on Saturday at the DePaul Athletic Center.
DePaul moves to 8-3 (3-0 in the tournament) while Central Michigan drops to 4-6. "It was a very solid effort," DePaul head coach Dawn Dockstader said. "Once we got rolling in game one, we seemed to keep it going the rest of the way. We are playing for the tournament title and that is all you can ask for." The Blue Demons spotted the Chips a 4-0 lead in game one and then scored 15 unanswered to post the victory. Stephanie Bishop had 15 kills for DePaul while Kara Jakusz dished out 34 assists with 12 digs. Melissa Nordine and Katie Engel also had 12 digs each.
The Blue Demons will play Alabama for the Blue Demon Invitational title tonight at 7:00 p.m. as both teams are 3-0 in tournament play.
