Christy Landschoot: sports blog Sept. 16
School began this past Wednesday at DePaul. I was looking forward to it starting because it is something else to focus on during the day outside of volleyball practice. I am excited for my classes this quarter, especially my art class which will be different than the classes that I have already taken at DePaul. I am also taking a class on web design, which is going to be something really new for me. It is nice being on quarters because there is only ten weeks of classes!
DePaul hosted a volleyball invitational this past weekend. UTSA, Ball State, and Denver came to the tournament held at McGrath Arena. We played UTSA on Friday night, and it was so fun having a lot of fans there! Thanks to everyone that came!!!
We played again on Saturday. Our first match was against Ball State at 12:30 and our second match was against Denver at 7:30. Although we lost both matches, we were able to take each team to more than three games and find more things that we need to focus on in practice. Sarah (Cullen) made the all-tournament team for the DePaul Invitational! Good job Sarah!!!
Sunday was our off day, and I went home. I had relatives in town, so my family and I went to dinner with them. The relatives that came to visit Chicago are from Belgium. My dad met them at a family reunion that was held over there about a year ago. They kept in contact, and then they decided to visit Chicago. It was really interesting talking to them and hearing about how different Europe is from the United States! I really want to go there some day.
Now we have a few practices before we travel to Iowa for our last preseason tournament! I cannot wait for conference to start; it’s going to be so fun! We play Northern in a week when we get back from Iowa, and then we are on the road again to kick off conference against Georgetown and USF.
I hope everyone stayed dry during the rainy weekend! Have a good week! GO BLUE!
