Volleyball Falls to Eastern Illinois 3-0

CHICAGO- The DePaul volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (31-29, 30-25, 30-22) match to Eastern Illinois in Friday night’s final game of the Blue Demon Invitational.  The Blue Demons fall to 5-5 on the season while Eastern Illinois improves to 7-2 on the season.

 

The Panthers commanded the match from game-one and ended with 10 more kills and a hitting percentage almost .100 higher than the Blue Demons.  

 

Eastern's Erica Gerth led her team with 15 kills and a .286 attack percentage.  She also finished with 13 digs, two less than teammate Maren Crabtree who registered a match high 15.

 

Senior Janet Goreham led DePaul and finished with a team high 15 kills and three total blocks.

 

DePaul’s Mandy Moorberg gave the home crowd something to cheer about; she served up a new 2004 DePaul season-record, seven service aces during the match. 

 

The Blue Demons will be back in action Saturday taking on Xavier (4-3) at and Western Illinois (2-9) at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m., respectively.
