Volleyball Drops Tough Four-Game Decision To Northwestern
EVANSTON, Ill. – DePaul got a double-double from Lara Marks and 14 kills from Katie Engel but it wasn’t enough as the Blue Demons dropped a 3-1 (19-30, 30-26, 30-20, 34-32) decision to Northwestern in its opening match of the Northwestern Invitational on Friday night at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Marks, a junior from Grand Rapids, Michigan posted 13 kills, hit a .team-high .385 and recorded 11 digs for the Blue Demons who fell to 2-9 overall. Engel, who returned to the lineup after missing the last two matches with a leg injury, posted a team-high 14 kills while sophomore Janet Goreham added 10 kills. Sophomore setter Amie West dished out 42 assists. The Blue Demons return to action in the Northwestern Invitational again on Saturday when they play a pair of matches. DePaul will face Harvard at Noon and Loyola-Chicago at 5 p.m.
