CHICAGO – The DePaul volleyball team opens its BIG EAST schedule Saturday afternoon, hosting Seton Hall at the DePaul Athletic Center. The Blue Demons and Pirates will tangle for the first time in either program's history at 2:00 p.m.
Coming into Saturday's match the Blue Demons have won two of their last three matches and are led offensively, by junior Ellen Hayes. The junior leads the Blue Demons with a .273 attack percentage and has finished four matches with a .300 or higher hitting percentage. Hayes also leads the defense averaging 3.31 digs per game.
Seton Hall's participated at the Penn State Classic in State College, Pa. last weekend. The Pirates (6-6) posted a 1-2 record, falling to Penn State and Marshall, but defeated Penn, 3-1. Junior outside hitter Jessica King leads the Pirates averaging 3.51 kills per game. She was named to the Penn State Classic All-Tournament Team after recording 24 kills and 10 blocks.
The BIG EAST regular season will be played through November 13. The Blue Demons will play eight home conference matches and be on the road for six. Louisville will host the 2005 BIG EAST Tournament November 19-20; the top eight teams, according to league records, will participate in a single-elimination tournament.
