Blue Demons Bounce Back, Drop UAB
Demons battled back several times to grab a 24-23 lead. DePaul went on to score six of the game's final seven points winning the game 30-24.
DePaul dominated the third game and emptied its bench. Freshman Amie West delivered 13 assists and two service aces leading the Blue Demons to victory. West ran off five consecutive points with the score 24-17 and the Blazers couldn't recover. Senior Christa Dirr led the Blue Demons with 12 kills and an impressive .667 hitting percentage. Dirr said, "I'm very proud of how we came out tonight after our disappointing match against Loyola. It shows what guts the team has." Junior Katie Engel added 10 kills with 10 digs and sophomore Lara Marks pounded nine kills and three blocks assists while hitting .400. "This was a great team win.," said Coach Dawn Dockstader. I thought West went in and did a really nice job finding hitters. She played really well." The loss dropped UAB to 6-5 on the season and 0-3 in conference play. Next up the Blue Demons host South Florida tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. at the Athletic Center. "As exciting as tonight was, we have to put this behind us and focus on South Florida tomorrow night," said Dirr.
