Christy Landschoot: sports blog Sept. 29
Things have been pretty busy at DePaul for the past few weeks! With school and conference beginning, it is hard to keep track of what day it is! I am still in disbelief that October is only a day away. October and November are my favorite months though. I love the Fall!
Since the DePaul Invitational, we have had several practices, a tournament at Iowa, a match versus Northern Illinois, and two conference games. We left for Iowa on last Thursday. This was one of our road trips for the season, which are always a lot of fun. The ride was about four hours, so it gave us time to do homework and talk. We arrived in Iowa Thursday night, went out to dinner, and then to the Hawkeyes’ gym for practice. On Friday evening, we played Tulsa, followed by Iowa and Portland on Saturday.
Our match against Northern Illinois was at home on last Tuesday night. It is always fun to play at home. We ended up losing in a close four set match, but had to refocus and prepare ourselves for the conference games taking place over the weekend.
It felt like no time passed before we had to leave Chicago again for another trip. We left for our first conference game versus Georgetown on Thursday morning. I have never been to Washington D.C. before, and I was excited to see the city. We practiced at Georgetown Thursday night to familiarize ourselves with the gym. Our match was on Friday night, and we unfortunately lost in three sets to the Hoyas. Once again, there was not much turn around time before our next match at USF in Sunday. We left Washington D.C. on Saturday morning and flew into Tampa. Our second conference game resulted in another loss, this time in four sets, to the Bulls.
Now we are back in Chicago, continuing to focus on more conference matches. We travel to Cincinnati and Louisville this upcoming weekend. These are top teams of the BIG EAST, and they will be very competitive matches that will be fun! In the meantime, I am catching up on homework and studying before we leave on Thursday. I hope everyone stays updated with DePaul Volleyball and cheers us on during our next two conference games! Have a great week! GO BLUE!
