DePaul Welcomes Villanova for a Friday Night Show Down

CHICAGO - After spending the week on the road, the DePaul volleyball team returns to McGrath Arena on Fri., Oct. 2 when it welcomes BIG EAST Conference rival Villanova to Lincoln Park.  The Blue Demons and Wildcats square off at 7 p.m. and action can be viewed live at www.depaulbluedemons.com

Friday's match marks the fifth meeting between the two programs while Villanova (11-4, 0-2 BIG EAST) hold a 4-0 series advantage.  DePaul (6-11, 0-2 BIG EAST) played the Wildcats for the first time in program history in 2005, when Blue Demons began competing in the BIG EAST.

Both DePaul and Villanova got off to a shaky start in the opening week of league play.  The Wildcats fell to both Cincinnati and Louisville, while the Blue Demons suffered losses to St. John's and Connecticut. 

Despite the loss, Chandler Carney posted strong numbers for DePaul, upping her career-best attack percentage to .409 (11-2-22) against the Red Storm.  She paced the Blue Demons for the first time this season with eight kills during the following match with the Huskies.

Sarah Cullen ranks ninth in the BIG EAST with 3.29 kills-per-game... Chandler Carney improved her career-best attack percentage to .409 (11-2-22) against St. John's... the Wildcats lead the all-time series against DePaul 4-0... the majority of the Blue Demons' league victories were earned on the home court in McGrath Arena... Cullen has reached the double-digit kill plateau on ten occasions this season... she has also registered a double-double (kills-digs) in seven matches this season bringer her career total to 34... other Blue Demons to record a double-double in clued Christy Landschoot (Assists-Digs) and Sammy Geiger (kills-assists).
