CHICAGO –  The DePaul volleyball team breaks from BIG EAST Conference play Tuesday, traveling to Green Bay to face the UW-Green Bay Phoenix at the Phoenix Sports Center at 7:00 p.m.


DePaul senior outside hitter Morgan Ingersoll looks to guide the Blue Demons (4-13) to a much needed win after dropping their last six matches.  The senior averages a team best .197 attack percentage and 4.10 kills per game.  DePaul’s defense is guided by senior Ellen Hayes and junior Stacy Pando.  Hayes averages 4.05 digs per game while Pando has notched 41 blocks this season.


The Phoenix have dropped four of its last five matches and are 6-8 on the season.  Sophomore middle blocker Abby Bergsma leads UW-Green Bay with a .241 attack percentage and 168 kills. 


Tuesday’s meeting between the Blue Demons and the Phoenix marks the 17th time the teams have tangled.  DePaul holds a 13-3 series advantage, but all of UW-Green Bay’s wins have come since 2002.   The 2005 meeting in Chicago saw UWGB take the match in four games. For the Phoenix, Bergsma finished with 12 kills and Sarah Rauen led the field with 25 digs.  Ingersoll led DePaul with 16 kills and freshman Maureen Zigulich led a quartet of Blue Demons to double-digit dig totals.


DePaul hosts its first matches of the season this weekend, welcoming Syracuse and Marquette to McGrath Arena for a pair of BIG EAST matches October 7 and 8, respectively.

Morgan Mentioned

Senior Morgan Ingersoll was named to the BIG EAST weekly honor roll for the week of September 18.  The senior led the Blue Demons offensively during the Memphis Tournament, tallying 59 kills and a .226 attack percentage during DePaul’s four matches.  Against  Central Arkansas, Ingersoll tallied a career-high 27 kills.


All-Tournament Nodes

Senior Morgan Ingersoll and Caitlin Callaghan took home All-Tournament team accolades for the Blue Demons this season.  Callaghan was named to the Western Illinois all-tournament team while, Ingersoll was named to the Memphis and Rice all-tournament squads.


Kleyweg First

First year head coach garnered her first win against Texas-San Antonio, Saturday, September 2 at the Rice Tournament.  For the match, the Blue Demons had six players finished with double-digit dig totals and registered nine total blocks, they also notched 69 kills.


BIG EAST Championship

The University of Cincinnati will play host to the 2006 BIG EAST Championship at Fifth Third Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. The top eight teams, according to league records, will participate in a single-elimination tournament to be held November 17-19.
