Volleyball Blows Out The Flames
CHICAGO – DePaul came through in the clutch Tuesday night at the UIC Pavilion, taking out the Flames in five (30-23, 24-30, 20-30, 30-27, 15-4). Lara Marks and Katie Engel led the charge posting 22 kills each.
“Tonight was a great team win,” said Coach Dockstader. “I liked that we came out in game five and took control. We really needed that.”
“Now we need to build off of this and carry the momentum into the weekend because we have a tough pair of conference road matches.”
There’s no doubt who lit up the offense against UIC. Katie Engel earned a hitting percentage of .362 and added 12 digs. Marks hit an outstanding .450 and dug 12 hits as well.
“Katie Engel and Lara Marks put on a clinic tonight.”
Of Marks’ presentation at the net, Dockstader could not have been more pleased. “That was one of the best middle blocking performances I’ve ever seen.”
Janet Goreham contributed 10 kills to the Blue Demon offense and led the defense with 20 digs. Amie West dished out 57 assists to her teammates and picked up 11 digs as well.
The Blue Demons head for the East Coast this weekend for two matches. They will take on Charlotte on Friday, October 11 and face East Carolina on Saturday, October 12.
