Volleyball Faces UW-Milwaukee Tonight
Chicago--For the fifth time in its last seven games the DePaul volleyball team will square off with a school ranked in the NCAA Midwest region when it hosts UW-Milwaukee tonight at 7 p.m.
The Panthers return three starters from a team that advanced to the NCAA Tournament last year and has run its record to 13-3 (5-1 Mid-Continent Conference) this year. The team's only losses are to conference foe Loyola, Ball State and Conference USA member, South Florida. UW-Milwaukee is currently riding a four match win streak and has won seven of its last eight. In addition, the squad has had DePaul's number, as they have been victorious in the last three meetings between the schools. The players the Blue Demons will have to focus on stopping are juniors Laura Dallenbach, Chrissy Schurla and Larissa Cattanach. The trio is the primary front row hitters for the team as well as its leaders on defense. Dallenbach leads the team in digs (3.73 per game), while Schurla is third (2.64 dpg). Cattanach is the team's blocking leader with 1.25 blocks per game.
The Blue Demons 15-6 (6-3 C-USA) will look to build on the momentum they gained by defeating Houston last weekend. The Cougars were undefeated in conference and ranked first in the region prior to the loss.
