Blue Demons Take on Connecticut and St. John's

CHICAGO-The DePaul volleyball team hosts the last two home matches of the 2010 season this weekend. On Saturday at 2 p.m., the Blue Demons square off against Connecticut and then on Sunday at 2 p.m. the Blue Demons will face St. John's.
For Saturday's match, DePaul is teaming up with the Side-Out Foundation to host a Dig Pink match. The goal of the match is to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. Sunday's match gives DePaul a chance to honor the graduating seniors, Kyndell Highland, Katherine Knutson, Kate Letcher and Christy Landschoot.
In their last appearance, the Blue Demons dropped a 3-0 match to UW-Milwaukee. Knutson led the Blue Demons defensively with 20 digs, while freshman Chelsea Kirkpatrick and Highland each totaled 7 kills.
DePaul returns to action next Sunday with a match at Villanova.
DePaul vs. Connecticut
Connecticut enters the weekend with a 3-16 overall record and a 1-7 record in the BIG EAST... the Blue Demons trail in the all-time series with a 0-6 record... last season, Connecticut defeated DePaul 3-0.
DePaul vs. St. John's
St. John's enters the weekend with a 15-10 overall record and a 2-6 record in the BIG EAST... the Blue Demons trail in the all-time series with a 1-5 record... last season, St. John's defeated DePaul 3-1.
Double Digit Digs
Katherine Knutson has had double digit digs in 20 matches this season... she leads the team and is currently ranked eighth in the BIG EAST with 4.20 digs per set...recorded 20 digs in the match against UW-Milwakee.
DePaul is currently fourth in the BIG EAST averaging 15.15 digs per set... DePaul is currently sixth in the BIG EAST averaging 1.91 blocks per set... DePaul totaled 113 digs in the match against Georgia State which is the second most in the BIG EAST... Chelsea Thurlby totaled 33 digs against Georgia State which is the second most any athlete has had this season in the BIG EAST.
Freshman Chelsea Kirkpatrick had been in double digit kills 10 times this season and leads the team with 2.37 kills per set.
