Volleyball Falls to Houston
HOUSTON, Texas – The Blue Demon volleyball squad were unable to pull out a win Saturday evening against Conference USA opponent Houston, falling in four-games (26-30, 30-27, 22-30, 20-30) at the Hofheinz Pavilion. DePaul falls to 11-16 on the season and 3-7 in conference play, while, the Houston Cougars improve to 8-15 and 4-5 in C-USA.
DePaul dropped the first game, but roared back in the game-two, defeating the Cougars 30-27. The Blue Demons hit a match high .136 while holding Houston to .073 attack percentage.
The Cougars snuffed out DePaul’s attempts for a come back in games two and three. Houston held the Blue Demons to a .122 attack percentage in game three and a .049 in game four.
Mandy Moorberg led the Blue Demon offense laying down 17 kills, while, Janet Goreham and Lara Marks each added 11.
Defensively, DePaul out blocked the Cougars, 15 to 10. Marks stuffed a season high, 11 total blocks. The team also tallied 56 total digs.
The Blue Demons will return home for their final three matches of the regular season. DePaul will host UAB on Friday, November 7th, South Florida on Saturday, November 8th and Marquette on Friday, November 14th.
