AVCA Announces All- Midwest Region Team; Jakusz one of 6 C-USA Players earning honors



CHICAGO (December 8) -- For the first time since 1990-91, DePaul has had a player named All-Region in consecutive seasons. Kara Jakusz was selected to the 2000 American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Midwest Region team after having been named Conference USA "Setter of the Year" and first team all-conference. She follows Stephanie Bishop who was a member of last year's all-region squad.

Jakusz owns a career assist average of 13.06 per game, which is sixth in NCAA history. In addition, she dished out at least 50 assists in 15 different matches for the Blue Demons this season. Jakusz also broke the single-season league match assist record with 870 and tied the conference assist record with 1,723.

Six Conference USA volleyball players grabbed spots on the All-Midwest Region team. The Midwest Region includes Conference USA, the Midwestern Collegiate Conference, the Ohio Valley Conference and the Southwestern Athletic Conference. This marks the fifth-straight year that C-USA has had at least six players on its all-region team.
