Wintrust ArenaOpening Fall 2017

Fall of 2017 will see Chicago's newest sports & entertainment venue open its doors to the public. Serving as home court to DePaul Blue Demon basketball, Wintrust Arena will feature a diverse, year round calendar of events - ranging from sports to national concert tours to family shows and conventions.

About Wintrust Arena

From the renowned architects at Pelli Clark Pelli and Moody Nolan, Wintrust Arena is part of a redevelopment plan to transform the surrounding neighborhood into a vibrant entertainment district. The building's design is contemporary, but it grows from a study of the adjacent neighborhoods.

The arena's main design feature is an inventive roof, or 5th façade, that swells upward over the arena seating, recalling some of Chicago's great gathering spaces like Adler and Sullivan's Auditorium Theater, the Navy Pier Grand Ballroom and Union Station. The roof is a landmark and will be seen from taller structures downtown and around the site.

The arena's main entrance is located on the site's most public spot, at the corner of prominent streets Cermak and Indiana. The building's many transparent façades help to create an architecture of experience in which the activity energy and excitement of the arena is felt around the site on the street.

Wintrust Arena Frequently Asked Questions

What type of events will be hosted by Wintrust Arena?
Wintrust Arena will feature a broad spectrum of events each year. It will serve as home court to the DePaul men's and women's basketball programs, in addition to concerts, family shows, professional and amateur sports, conventions and civic events. DePaul season ticket holders will enjoy the benefit of having the first right to purchase tickets at Wintrust Arena for non-DePaul basketball games.

When will Wintrust Arena be open to the public?
Wintrust Arena is targeted for completion in September 2017.

If I purchased season tickets for 2016-17 at Allstate Arena, will I be assured the opportunity to purchase seats in 2017-18 at Wintrust Arena and be part of the equitable seat selection process?
Yes, if you purchase season tickets for the 2016-17 men's basketball season at Allstate Arena, you will be moved into 2nd Priority of the equitable priority seat selection process. As a current season ticket holder on file, if you would like to improve your ranking and qualify for 1st Priority, you will simply need to activate your Blue Demon Loyalty Points by making a gift of $100 or more to the Fund for Basketball Excellence.

Is there a restriction on the number of tickets I can purchase?
Ticket purchases are based upon availability. Season ticket account holders making a gift to the Fund for Basketball Excellence will be entitled to select up to four tickets courtside, eight tickets in midcourt sections and an unlimited number of tickets outside of those two designations. Renewing and current tickets holders on record may purchase above those limits based upon seat purchases for the 2016-17 season at Allstate Arena.

How soon will I be able to select my seat location for the 2017-18 season?
We anticipate the priority seat selection process to begin in late April and will be based upon the four-tiered selection system starting with 1st Priority (Blue Demon Loyalty Points Members that are committed to purchasing season tickets for 2017-18 and have activated through a gift to the Fund for Basketball Excellence). After the Loyalty Points members have had a chance to select seats, then 2nd Priority (remaining 2016-17 season ticket holders on record) will have an opportunity. We will have a pre-sale opportunity prior to June 1 for mini-plan buyers, remaining DePaul faculty, staff and general DePaul alumni. On June 1, season tickets will be made available to the general public on a first come, first serve basis.

Will Wintrust Arena have premium seating options for suites or club seats? If I am interested in Premium Seating, who should I contact?
Yes. Wintrust Arena will feature 22 private suites and 479 club seats located on the bench side of the arena at center court. With the purchase of premium seats, buyers will receive all men's basketball regular season home games. Receive additional information and learn about the amenities and benefits of these seating areas by contacting Marty Murphy at (773) 325-7535 or email

Are donations to the University tax deductible? How can I make a gift to the Basketball Excellence Fund?
Donations ARE tax-deductible; however, there is an IRS 80/20 rule on the gift to activate your Blue Demon Loyalty Points account. If you donate $100 to activate your Blue Demon Loyalty Points account, $80 (or 80%) is tax-deductible; 20% is not tax-deductible because you are receiving a benefit (loyalty points).
